Reşit Şimşek is a Tarsus-born interdisciplinary artist whose practice merges painting and photography. He holds a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Yıldız Technical University and has been formalizing his artistic trajectory in the Photography Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University since 2022.
Driven by an exploration of alternative and historical printing techniques, Şimşek investigates the physical and semantic boundaries of experimental photography. His conceptual framework revolves around the concept of 'time,' using various signifiers to build archival, anthropological, and sociocultural bridges between the past and the present.
In the international arena, he was awarded second place at the prestigious Kodak Camera Club Competition in New York.
